Wanted: Hands-on Telecom Engineer
The sky’s the limit! Are you looking for a ground floor opportunity to expand your telecom industry experience in a unique position with one foot in the engineering department and the other in field operations? Want to learn about telecommunications networks from the inside out by performing the full cycle of design, engineering and hands-on implementation of complex networks?
CFN Services, a former subsidiary of the $8 billion Fortune 250 CSX Corporation and an emerging provider of network infrastructure and services to leading communications carriers, government, and commercial enterprises, is looking for a high-energy hands-on engineering person. Take on a leading role in design, engineering and field implementation to deliver telecom networks that lower costs and improve operations for customers such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Alcatel-Lucent, Fujitsu and others. We’re only looking for the best. If you have what it takes to join our talented team in the New Jersey/New York area or the company’s Herndon, Virginia, headquarters, we will challenge and develop you daily as you:
• Evaluate new technologies and vendors to decide on the best solution for our customer networks. Metrics evaluated include both financial and technical.
• Perform site surveys and orders equipment to fulfill customer orders.
• Perform detailed design and engineering of specific network implementation with enough detail for installation by field personnel.
• Perform on-site customer network turn-up and circuit acceptance. The ability to travel is required, including internationally.
• Work to continually improve methods and processes for delivering service to our customers.
• Project manage equipment, collocation, bandwidth and installation services vendors to deliver on time.
• Continue to support our network and customers after initial implementation.
This self-starter possesses high degrees of initiative and creativity combined with strong analytical, communication, problem solving, and project management skills. The most successful candidates will have or rapidly develop:
• Experience and accomplishments working with technology including hands-on experience.
• Demonstrable experience with project management and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrable experience with technology evaluation (including RFIs, RFPs and RFQs) and deployment.
• Familiarity with telecom equipment and protocols such as SONET, DWDM, CWDM and Ethernet.
• Ability to learn new technologies and keep abreast of industry trends.
• An action orientation to deliver in a fast-paced emerging company environment needing independent thinking and execution while working as part of a team.
At CFN experience and more importantly accomplishments are the rule, BA/BS or advanced degrees are important but not required.
